Ôn tập lí thuyết thì quá khứ đơn
Công thức thì quá khứ đơn:
+ | S + V-ed/Iregular verbs
| I met Lan yesterday |

Ngoại lệ thì quá khứ đơn với to Be:
(-) was/were -> wasn’t/weren’t
(?) was/were + S-?
Cách dùng thì quá khứ đơn:
| 1 | Nói một hành động đã xảy ra và kết thúc trong quá khứ.
| I went to school late this morning I lost my phone yesterday |
| 2 | Nói các hành động diễn ra tuần tự trong quá khứ.
| Last month, I had a picnic with my friends. We prepared some food and drink. I took some photos and then, we had lunch together. |
| 3 | Nói những sự thật chung trong quá khứ
| Was Edison born in 1850? Vo Nguyen Giap led the defeat of the French at Dien Bien Phu in 1954 ending almost a century of colonial rule. |
| 4 | Nói một hành động xen giữa một hành động khác trong quá khứ. | It rained when we were playing soccer. A thief stole my car when I was sleeping.

Bài tập thì quá khứ đơn
Chia động từ ở thì quá khứ đơn
I had (have) a bad experience. It happened (happen) last week.
I woke up (wake up) late because my alarm clock didn’t ring (not ring). I got up (get up) quickly and had (have) a shower in a hurry, and as you guess, I didn’t have (not have) enough time to eat breakfast.
I was (be) driving my car fast in hoping I wouldn’t be late fore work, and that prevented (prevent) me from taking a good look at the traffic lights. I failed (fail) to stop when the light was (be) red.
And I was (be) still driving fast when suddenly a policeman on his huge motorbike overtook (overtake) me and told (tell) me to stop.
“Oh,shit!” I whispered (whisper). I pulled out (pull out).
The policeman just stopped (stop) his motorbike right in front of my car. He got down (get down) his motorbike and approached (approach) me.
“Good morning! You ran (run) the red light. Can I see your driving license and paper, please?” He said (say) as I was (be) getting out of my car.
I tapped (tap) my back pocket trying to find my wallet where I have my driving license and paper. But the wallet was (be) not there. I checked (check) my handbag in the car. It was (be) not there either.
Luckily I had (have) some money in my other pocket. I caught (catch) a public transport and went (go) back home. 30 minutes later I got (get) back to my car. I showed (show) the policeman my driving license and paper and he gave (give) me a ticket for running the red light and for failing to produce my driving license and paper.
When I arrived (arrive) at my office, I was (be) surprised. The gate of the office was (be) closed and I didn’t see (not see) anyone there, not even the office boy. And that was (be) the time I realized (realize) it was (be) Sunday.
