Cấu trúc Promise đầy đủ trong Tiếng Anh

Cấu trúc Promise trông đơn giản nhưng đã làm khó không ít các bạn học. Trong bài hôm nay, Chăm học bài sẽ cùng các bạn tìm hiểu tất cả các cách dùng promise nhé!

Promise có thể dùng như 1 danh từ (N) hoặc 1 động từ (V).

Danh từ Promise cách dùng

A promise: là một lời hứa mà bạn chắc chắn làm.

Ex: I’ll be here for your birthday. That’s a promise! (100% tớ sẽ đến sinh nhật cậu!)

*Chú ý: Cấu trúc Promise hay được dùng với động từ “make”.

Ex: I made a promise to mom that I would study harder

(a) Một số cấu trúc promise hay dùng:

  1. I double promise.(Khẳng định 200% sẽ thực hiện lời hứa)
  2. Did you keep your promise? (Bạn sẽ giữ lời hứa chứ?)
  3. I broke my promise to marry her. (Tôi đã phá vỡ lời hứa cưới cô ấy)
  4. He showed me a great promise. (Anh ấy đã cho tôi 1 lời hứa hẹn)

(b) Một số idiom với Promise:

  1. A promise is a promise.

-> Nhấn mạnh việc giữ lời hứa.

Ex: You said you would not hurt me. A promise is a promise.

  1. A promise made is a promise kept

-> Nhấn mạnh việc thực hiện đúng hẹn.

Ex: The commitment made to our clients is always honored. A promise made is a promise kept. (=Những cam kết với khách hàng luôn được thực hiện đúng hẹn)

  1. Empty promise

-> Lời hứa sáo rỗng, không có ý thực hiện.

Ex: I need action, not just empty promises.

Động từ Promise cách dùng

Động từ Promise được dùng để nói một ta chắc chắn sẽ làm gì. Ta dùng promise với “will, would” hoặc với nguyên mẫu “to-infinitive”.

(a) S + promise + Clause with (will/would)

Ex: I promise I will give you a present.(Tớ hứa sẽ mua quà cho cậu)

Hoa promised that she would buy me this dress.

* Chú ý 1: Không dùng cấu trúc promise + Clause ở thì hiện tại đơn

Ex: CORRECT: I promise I will clean our room tomorrow.

NOT: I promise I clean our room tomorrow.

* Chú ý 2: Có thể dùng “Will” như một lời hứa thay cho cấu trúc promise:

Ex: I’ll always remember you.

= I promise I will always remember you.(Không tự nhiên bằng câu trên)

I’ll send you my homework tonight.

= I promise I will send you my homework tonight.

* Chú ý 3: Một số mẫu câu dùng để hứa hẹn khác cấu trúc Promise:

  • I give you my word on that.
  • I swear I will never break your heart.
  • I assure you that I will come to the party before 7 pm.
  • Believe me, I will finish the job on time.
  • You have my word on it.
  • Trust me, I will never do the same mistake again.

(b) Cấu trúc Promise với nguyên mẫu của động từ:

S + promise + (not) + to-V

Ex:

  • He promises to go shopping with me.
  • Nhi promises to teach me English.
  • She promises not to smoke anymore.

* Chú ý 3: Ngoài nguyên mẫu có “to”, ta có thể dùng promise cấu trúc với các nguyên mẫu khác như: to be + V-ing; to have + Vp2; to have been + V-ing.

  • Ex: I promise to have saved enough money to buy my mom a luxury bag by the end of this year.

= I promise that I will have saved enough money to buy my mom a luxury bag by the end of this year.

  • I promise to be waiting for you at school gate at 5 pm today.
  • I promise I’m telling the truth.

* Chú ý 4: Các đại từ có thể đứng ngay sau “promise” trong cấu trúc promise để nhắc đến đối tượng nhận được lời hứa

Ex: Promise me to hand out your homework before tonight.

(c) Cấu trúc Promise trong câu tường thuật:

Ta sử dụng cấu trúc Promise theo sau bởi that-clause hoặc to-V để tường thuật một lời hứa

Ex: “I’ll be back by lunchtime.”

  • He promised to be back by lunchtime.
  • He promised that he would be back by lunchtime

Ex: “I’ll pay you the money tomorrow.”

  • He promised to pay me the money the next week.
  • He promised that he would pay me the money the next week.

##3: Tường thuật lại các câu sau:

  1. Lan said: I will lend you some money.

  1. Hung said: I will bring a happy future for you.

  1. He said: I swear I won’t break your hurt.

  2. She promises she will go to my house before 6 pm.
