In my opinion, the main reason is that fame tends to corrupt people. I mean in today’s world, celebrities are treated like royalty, and therefore they are seen as ‘above the rules and the law’. They know that their celebrity status will allow them to get away with illegal acts that would not be tolerated if they were committed by other people. And they know they will get off easy even if they commit a serious crime. I think this hugely influences their perception of reality and, as a result, their behaviour. Plus, in order to be successful, celebrities kind of need to get attention from as many people as possible. So some of them will do anything to get people talking about them.
