Well, I wouldn’t say they do as, first of all, females, as far as I know, are more likely than males to be person-focused in what concerns gift-exchange, whereas males are more likely than females to be object-focused, which means that women care about who they choose gifts for while men focus on the gift itself. What is more, women are more likely than men to have a positive attitude towards gift-giving. I guess it’s because they are less likely to feel obliged to give. One more difference I can think of is that women give fairly cheap gifts but to a wide network of receivers, while men are more likely to give substantial gifts and confine their scope of giving to a very narrow circle of people like spouses and kids. Oh, and one more thing: men are more likely than women to possess a practical gift-giving style. They really seldom waste money on unnecessary stuff.
