I guess the main reason is that they don’t like to be dependent on others. Also, many people like the idea of being able to stop whenever and wherever they want. They can take as much stuff with them as they need. They can speak loudly and sing. So, although many of my friends say that the amount of money needed to purchase a car could generally finance public transit fees for years, they are not planning to switch to mass transit ’cause it’s really fast and comfortable.
